Invocation, because you are invoking the Muse 3 (of poetry, there were several other muses of history, rhetoric, astronomy, help, etc.) to tell the story.

Well, the source, which I asked before, Homer's muse a lot of things (many sites say that she was the Muse Calliope).
In the Iliad, Homer asks the Muse to sing, the leader of the Danaan, and the name of the bravest of the Tuatha. They also asked the name of the first Trojan to the state of Agamemnon and the Greeks, Poseidon won the first fight, after entering the battle. Finally he asked, as the Greeks, Hector reflect "ships set on fire.
In the Odyssey, Homer asks the Muse to tell the story of Odysseus.
